The Guardians have claimed their place as one of America’s favorite Southern Gospel trios with their recent hits “Somebody Prays,” “Shoutin’ Sounds,” “Let the Healing Begin” and many others. Group members, Neil Uhrig, John Darin Rowsey, and Dean Hickman, are committed to glorifying the name of our Lord through song. Their collective mission is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ, to sing songs that minister to people’s hearts and touch their lives. Their music is sincere and makes an impact on the listeners. At any given concert, you will find your toe tapping, hands clapping, eyes tearing and you will be touched through their heart-felt ministry.
Dean Hickman: Dean began his musical career singing tenor alongside Danny Gaither with the Golden Keys Quartet. Later, he embarked on his current journey as first tenor with The Guardians. Songs from Dean’s solo CD, such as “For the Glory of Christ” and “Greatest of All Miracles” has reached the Top 40 on the Singing News chart. Dean displays a true heart for ministry.
John Darin Rowsey: Before joining The Guardians, John Darin sang with other notable groups, including New Journey and Karen Peck & New River. John has been a vital part of the group’s current sound and has written numerous hits for The Guardians and other artists. Several of his songs have reached #1 on the southern gospel charts. John has also been the recipient of the prestigious Dove Award.
Neil Uhrig, the son of another gospel-great Dale Uhrig, began his musical ministry in front of the church congregation as a child. When he was 18, he was asked to sing baritone with his Dad’s group, The Uhrig Brothers. After disbanding, Neil and Dale, along with Dean Hickman, founded The Guardians and Neil has been the backbone of the Group ever since. Neil has continually shown himself to be not only a great singer and a man of faith but also a dear friend and incredible asset to the Group.
Tony Ackley has been The Guardians’ Road Manager and Bus Driver and all around “go to” guy almost since the beginning of this journey. He tirelessly works behind the scenes to make sure The Guardians are where they need to be on time. You will see him loading and unloading the bus at all hours, driving through the night when everyone else is asleep and making sure all the Group’s needs are met.
Mark Hale: As The Guardians’ sound engineer, Mark has been responsible for the quality of all The Guardians projects since the beginning. Before traveling on the road with the Group, Mark owned and operated Harvest recording studio where each of their projects were recorded. Mark is a respected sound engineer by his peers and works diligently to make sure the Guardians’ sound is impeccable.
